Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University football team will open up their 2013 season on the road at Truman State on Saturday. After a 3-8 season last year, head coach Craig Schuler looks to move the program in a different direction entering into his first year at the helm. With a solid core of returning players, and one of the strongest recruiting classes in the history of the program, the Bearcats will look to have a strong impact in the MIAA.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
Craig Schuler will begin his first season on the Bearcat bench after coming to SBU from Lindenwood University. Coach Schuler completed his ninth year as an assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Lindenwood this past season where he also served as recruiting coordinator. Schuler led one of the most prolific offenses in the nation during his tenure at Lindenwood, including averaging 45 points per game since the beginning of the 2009 season (45-game stretch). In 2010 Schuler's offense averaged a national record 8.94 yards per snap.
Gregg Nesbitt is in his third season at Truman State and holds a career record of 12-21.
Truman State leads the all-time series against the Bearcats, 20-3. Truman State won the last meeting 24-14 at Southwest Baptist in 2012.
