Box Score Joplin, Mo. - The SBU Volleyball team picked up their first MIAA victory on Friday night with a 3-2 win over Missouri Southern. The Bearcats and Lions went back-and-forth claiming sets, with SBU eventually winning 28-26, 18-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-5.
The Bearcats continued to rack up team blocks at a high hate, collecting 16.0 team blocks during the five sets.
Jordan Nedbalek led the way for SBU with 4 solo blocks and 6 block assists. Offensively,
Mackynzi Gibson and
Nikki Madoch both picked up 12 kills, while
Kelsey Fankhauser had 41 assists in the contest. On the back row,
Hannah Blount (16),
Kelsey Fankhauser (14), and
Katy Fitzpatrick (10) all picked up double-digit digs.
SBU will return home to face the Gorillas of Pittsburg State on Tuesday, October 1 for the first of a four-game home stretch. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
