Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team picked up a big victory on Saturday morning, defeating Fort Hays State 2-1. The Bearcats now move to 4-1-1 (2-0 MIAA) on the season, while Fort Hays falls to 2-5 (0-2 MIAA) on the season.
The Bearcats and Tigers played a physical match, with both teams scoring early on. Six minutes into the game, Fort Hays was the first to strike with a Hailey Davey goal. The Bearcats responded quickly in the 19th minute when
Jayme Braun shot across the box into the upper corner of the goal to tie the game at 1-1. SBU would put the go ahead goal into the back of the net at the 33:22 mark when
Brittany Marino fed a corner kick across the box to
Kate Jamison who scored SBU's second goal of the day. The Bearcats would hold strong for the remainder of the game and claim a 2-1 victory.
SBU will return to action on Tuesday, September 24 when they travel to #12 William Jewell College. Play is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. from Liberty, Missouri.
