Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team moved to 3-1-1 (1-0 MIAA) on Thursday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over Nebraska-Kearney (2-3). The Bearcats used a strong first half effort to help claim their first MIAA victory of the season.
The Bearcats were the first to get on the scoreboard during the 22nd minute of play.
Elin Hammar had a quick cross to the center of the field where
Karla Jamison promptly put it in the back of the goal to put the Bearcats up 1-0. SBU extended their lead right before half when
Malin Sandin booted a ball over the defenders heads, while
Amanda White tracked down the ball and lobbed it over the goalie to give SBU a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
In the second half Nebraska-Kearney cut the lead to 2-1 off of a Becka Talcott goal, but the Bearcats would hold on to the 2-1 victory.
SBU quickly returns to action on Saturday, September 21 when they host Fort Hays State. The game is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
