Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team won their fifth straight match on Tuesday evening, taking down William Jewell College 3-0. With the victory SBU moves to 7-2, the first time since 1998 that the Bearcats are five games over .500.
The Bearcats swept the Cardinals in straight sets, taking the first set 25-19, the second set 26-24, and the final set 25-22. All three sets were tight games, but SBU was able to hold off any Cardinal attack as they beat William Jewell for the second time in four days.
McKinley Chesley led the way in kills for SBU, collecting 10, while
Nikki Madoch had 9,
Jenna Isaacs 8,
Jordan Nedbalek 8, and
Mackynzi Gibson 7.
Kelsey Fankhauser once again handled the setting duties, picking up 43 assists in the win, while a trio of Bearcats hit double-digits on digs (
Hannah Blount 15,
Kaitlyn Allison 13,
Katy Fitzpatrick 11). The Bearcats also collected 9.5 team blocks to go along with a .231 hitting percentage.
SBU will return to the road as they travel to #6 Central Missouri on Friday, September 20. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Warrensburg, Missouri.
