SBU Football to Host Lindenwood in First Home Contest on Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Bearcats are coming off of a tough 40-37 road loss at Truman State last weekend as they set to take on Lindenwood on Saturday. The match-up is the first for head coach, Craig Schuler, since leaving Lindenwood to take the head coaching position at Southwest Baptist. Willie Tindal had a record setting day at the helm for SBU against Truman State, throwing for 448 yards, setting the new school record for passing yards in a regulation game.

Craig Schuler will begin his first season on the Bearcat bench after coming to SBU from Lindenwood University. Coach Schuler completed his ninth year as an assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Lindenwood this past season where he also served as recruiting coordinator. Schuler led one of the most prolific offenses in the nation during his tenure at Lindenwood, including averaging 45 points per game since the beginning of the 2009 season (45-game stretch). In 2010 Schuler's offense averaged a national record 8.94 yards per snap.

Patrick Ross is in his tenth season at Lindenwood where he has compiled a 72-22 record. In his eleven year career, Ross has a coaching record of 88-29.

Lindenwood leads the all-time series against the Bearcats, 1-0. Lindenwood won the last meeting 35-14 at Lindenwood in 2012.

Lindenwood is coming off of a 24-22 victory over Lincoln last Saturday to move to 1-0 (1-0 MIAA) on the season. Morris Henderson led the way on the ground for the Lions with 99 rushing yards on 17 carries, while quarterback Jacob Morris threw for 226 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Defensively Markuice Savage led the way with 10 tackles for the Lions.
