Bolivar, Mo. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released their Regional award winners, with Southwest Baptist claiming three awards across both men's and women's tennis.
Domingos Carissimo has been named the 2013 Central Region Senior Player of the Year. Carissimo went 19-1 from the #1 singles position this year, and was a combined 19-3 from the #1 and #2 doubles positions. Carissimo was named MIAA Player of the Year, as well as being named All-MIAA 1st team in both #1 singles and #2 doubles.
On the women's side,
Christina Zentai has been named the 2013 Central Region Rookie of the Year. Zentai went 20-1 in singles play this year and 24-1 in doubles play, earning All-MIAA 1st Team honors in both #3 singles and #1 doubles.
Head Coach
John Bryant has also been named the 2013 Central Region Women's Coach of the Year. Coach Bryant led the Bearcats to a 23-2 overall record, including an appearance in the Elite 8 of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships. The Bearcats claimed their third straight MIAA Tournament Championship, and second straight MIAA Regular Season Championship this year.
