Springfield, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's tennis team was unable to hold off Northwest Missouri State in the final round of the MIAA conference tournament on Sunday morning. Northwest Missouri overcame an early win by Southwest Baptist in doubles play, winning five straight matches. With the win over Southwest Baptist the Northwest Missouri Bearcats earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Men's Regional tournament.
The doubles team of Kristof Kinal and Omar El Kheshen picked up the lone doubles victory over Luis Altimires and Sergio De Vilchez for the Bearcats before dropping both their #2 and #3 doubles matches.
The Bearcats will now wait to see who their opponent will be in the NCAA South Central Regional tournament. On Tuesday April, 23, the bracket will be released.
