Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team lost a tough double-header against Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats fell 4-1 in game one, while losing game two 12-0.
In game one the score remained tied through the first three innings before Missouri Southern would put the first run on the scoreboard in the fourth. The Lions would eventually push their lead to 4-0 before the Bearcats got onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs,
Josh Herrick doubled down the left field line, and was brought home one batter later when
Landon Young singled to left field to cut the lead down to three. However, it wasn't enough as SBU fell 4-1 in game one.
Zack Winchester got credited with the loss, throwing 5.2 innings while allowing four runs and picking up four strikeouts in the game.
Landon Young went 3-4 with an rbi, while both
Spencer Blacksher and
Josh Herrick were 2-3 in the game.
In game two, SBU was never able to get their offense going, as they fell 12-0 in the contest.
The Bearcats will hit the road for a seven game road trip to close out the regular season. SBU will be back in action on Tuesday, April 23 when they travel to Lindenwood for a double-header with the Lions. Opening pitch of game one is set to take place at 4:00 p.m. from St. Charles, Missouri.
