SBU Baseball to Travel to Missouri Western & Truman; Host Northwest Missouri this Week

Bolivar, Mo. - SBU enters into the upcoming week of play coming off of a 2-2 week including a victory over #5 Central Missouri. The Bearcats begin their week play a non-conference match-up at Missouri Western, followed by a road double-header against Truman State. The Bearcats then return home for the weekend for a three-game series against Northwest Missouri.

Earlier this year against Missouri Western, the Bearcats dropped a double-header against Griffons. SBU's all-time record against Missouri Western now stands at 39-58. Zach Pirrello led the way for SBU with three hits on the day, while Kyle Jochems, Drew Miller, Ross Wolfe, and Bo Helsel all collected two hits for the Bearcats.  

SBU picked up a double-header sweep at home against Truman State earlier this year. The Bearcats received a complete game effort from Zack Winchester in a 3-2 game one victory, where he allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits over 7.0 innings. In game two the bats exploded for SBU, collecting 13 runs off of 18 hits. Zach Pirrello went a perfect 4-4 in the game, while Ross Wolfe had three hits. The Bearcats had six extra-base hits, includinga  homerun by Kyle Jochems and a triple by Bo Helsel. SBU now leads the all-time series against Truman State 31-30.

The Bearcats return home on the weekend to take on Northwest Missouri for the first time this year. The Bearcats trail in the all-time series against Northwest Missouri 17-51. SBU took one of four games from NWMSU last season, claiming a 6-1 victory in the third game of the series.

Going into this week of play the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats are ranked eleventh in the MIAA.
