Jefferson City, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team fell in a double-header against Lincoln on Saturday afternoon, losing game one 5-0 and game two 6-2.
In game one the Bearcats fell despite the complete game effort from starting pitcher
Lyndie Routh. Routh pitched a complete game, allowing five runs (four earned) while striking out three. In game two, Lincoln jumped ahead 6-0 before the Bearcats started to battle back in the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth inning
Londyn Backfisch led the inning off with a single, and was eventually brought home on a Routh groundout. The Bearcats added another run in the seventh when
Jamie Penick was brought home on a
Stef Lischke single, but SBU ended up losing the game 6-2.
SBU will be back in action on Monday, April 15 when they host Central Missouri. Game one of the double-header is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
