Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team dropped two non-conference games against Truman State on Saturday afternoon in Bolivar, 2-3 and 0-10.
In game one
Cendyl Carter threw well from the circle, giving the Bearcats a complete game allowing three runs (two earned) while striking out three. After Truman jumped ahead 1-0 in the second, the Bulldogs added two more runs in the top of the fifth to put the Bearcats down 3-0.
In the bottom of the sixth the Bearcats started the swinging the bats well. Alandria Jenson led the inning off by blasting a triple off of the right field wall.
Londyn Backfisch then gave SBU an infield single and stole second to put runners on second and third with no outs. The Bearcats used an rbi groundout from
Lyndie Routh and an rbi sacrifice bunt from
Tori Lamkins to cut the lead to 2-3, but it wasn't enough as SBU fell 2-3 in game one. The Bulldogs took the second game 10-0 to take the series.
The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday, March 12 when they travel to William Jewell College for a matchup against the Cardinals. Opening pitch of the double-header is set for 2:00 p.m. from Liberty, Missouri.
