Springfield, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team hung tough with Drury University on Thursday afternoon, falling to the Panthers 0-1 in game one followed by a 0-14 game two decision.
Cendyl Carter pitched a great game one from the circle, pitching a complete game allowing only one run while spreading out eight hits. In the first inning the Panthers put a run on the scoreboard off of three hits. The Bearcats then shut the Panthers down for the remainder of the game, always remaining within striking distance. However the Bearcats were unable to put any runs on the scoreboard in the contest, falling 0-1. In game two the Bearcats weren't able to get their offense going, falling 0-14.
SBU will return to action on Saturday, March 9 when they play host to Truman State University for their home opener. The non-conference match-up with the Bulldogs is set to begin at 12:00 from the SBU Softball Field in Bolivar.
