Tahlequah, Okla. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team lost two MIAA games against Northeastern State on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-9 in game one and 0-7 in game two.
In the first game Northeastern State jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Bearcats were able to get on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth. After
Caitlyn Cooner led the inning off with a walk, she eventually advanced over to third before coming home off of a fielder's choice by
Jordan Gray. NSU would score two in the bottom half of the inning as SBU fell 1-9. The Bearcats weren't able to put any runs on the board in the second game of the double-header, falling 0-7.
Londyn Backfisch led the way for the Bearcats with two hits on the day, while
Hailey Turner,
Jordan Gray,
Alandria Jensen, and
Stacie Davis all picked up a hit for SBU.
The Bearcats continue their road trip on Wednesday, April 3 when they travel to Liberty, Missouri for a match-up against William Jewell. The double-header is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
