SBU Softball Falls in First MIAA Games of the Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Platte, City, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team dropped their first two MIAA contest of the season against Northwest Missouri State on Friday afternoon. The Bearcats fell 1-14 in game one, followed by a 3-7 loss in game two.

In game one the Bearcats fell behind early, trailing 0-14 after four innings. The Bearcats gathered their lone run in the top of the fifth when Caitlyn Cooner singled to centerfield to bring home Jordan Gray. In game two SBU jumped ahead early in the contest. In the top of the first inning with no one on and two outs, Lyndie Routh blasted a solo homerun to put SBU up 1-0. The Bearcats added two more runs in the top of the second when Tori Lamkins homered to left field to put SBU up 3-0. The Bearcats of Northwest Missouri would score the next seven runs as SBU lost game two 3-7.

SBU will return to action on Saturday, March 16 when they travel to St. Joseph, Missouri to take on Missouri Western. Opening pitch of the double header is set for 2:00 p.m.
