Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team put up 18 total runs on Tuesday afternoon against Lindenwood, coming away with a 12-2 game two victory after falling 6-13 in game one.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Bearcats came out swinging the bats. Landon Young led off the game with a double to right center, and came home two batters later on a Drew Miller double to right center to put SBU up 1-0 after one. SBU added three more runs in the bottom of the second when Young doubled to left center with runners on second and third to push the lead to 3-0. Josh Herrick then singled up the middle to plate Young and give SBU a 4-0 lead after two.

The Bearcats added another run in the fourth, off of a Herrick single down the leftfield line, and continued to put up runs in the fifth. With the bases loaded, Spencer Blacksher hit a sacrifice fly to right field, followed by an rbi sacrifice bunt from Tyler Hampton, to put SBU up 7-0. Aaron Anderson then double to center field, bringing home Kyle Jochems, to give the Bearcats an 8-0.

After a Lindenwood run in the top half of the sixth inning, the Bearcats responded with a homerun of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Young led the inning off with his third double of the game, followed by a Ross Wolfe walk, before Miller blasted a three-run homerun to right field to put SBU up 11-1. Lindenwood added a run in the top of the seventh to momentarily prevent a run rule victory for the Bearcats. However SBU would claim the run rule victory in the bottom of the eighth after back-to-back walks from Wolfe and Miller, a sacrifice from Helsel, followed by a sacrifice fly from Jochems to give SBU the 12-2 victory. Cole Roark threw an outstanding game for the Bearcats, picking up the win while throwing 7 innings, allowing only two runs on five hits while striking out 7.

In game one Lindenwood jumped out to a 3-0 lead before SBU responded in the bottom of the second. With one on, Jochems homered to left center to pull SBU within one at 2-3. Lindenwood would go on to score ten straight runs before the Bearcats once again got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. SBU strung together a couple of walks, when Gage Compton hit an infield single to third to bring home Sander Bryan. Then with the bases loaded, Miller hit a bases clearing double to right center, but it wasn't enough as SBU dropped game one 6-13.

Drew Miller and Landon Young both had solid days from the plate for the Bearcats. Miller went 4-7 on the day with 7 rbi, a couple of doubles, and a homerun, while Young was 4-5 in the second game with 4 doubles, breaking the SBU individual game record for doubles hit in a game, while also adding 2 rbi and 3 runs scored. Tyler Hampton and Josh Herrick both picked up multiple hits for the Bearcats, while eight different batters collected RBI's on the afternoon.

"I thought Cole [Roark] threw really well," head coach Chris Martin stated after the doubleheader. "He is our hardest worker, so it is not surprising to see him throw that well. The offense and defense really responded. Landon [Young] and Drew [Miller] came up with big hits, and I thought [Tyler] Hampton was great behind the plate. We just need more from some of our guys on the mound. We need them to be the best version of themselves, and right now they aren't."

The Bearcats will hit the road for their first road games on Friday, March 15 when they head to Pittsburg State. Opening pitch of the single 9 inning game is set for 4:00 p.m. from Pittsburg, Kansas.
