Birmingham, Ala. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team finished out the UNA Tournament on Sunday afternoon, losing to McKendree 8-12 and falling to North Alabama 0-12.
In game one against McKendree the Bearcats fell behind 0-1 after a half inning of play, but the Bearcats quickly responded in the bottom of the first. After a leadoff walk, the Bearcats tied the game up at 1-1 when
Tori Lamkins hit an rbi double. The Bearcats then drew back-to-back-to-back walks to go up 2-1. The Bearcats would add another run off of an rbi single from Cam Cooner followed by a wild pitch to put SBU up 4-1 after one. McKendree added another run an inning later to cut SBU's lead to 4-2. However with the bases loaded in the bottom of third inning,
Alandria Jensen blasted a grandslam to centerfield to put SBU up 8-2. McKendree went on to score 10 unanswered runs as SBU fell 8-12. In game two against North Alabama the Bearcats were never able to get anything going as they fell 0-12.
SBU will return to action on Tuesday, March 5 when they travel to Springfield, Missouri to take on Drury. Opening pitch of game one of the double header is set for 5:00 p.m.
