SBU Men's Basketball Closes out Home Play by Hosting Central Missouri on Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - SBU returns to MIAA play for another home match-up to face off against the Central Missouri Mules on Saturday after coming off a home win over Lincoln.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot is in his ninth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles and compiled a 166-96 (.634) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Kim Anderson enters his eleventh season on the Mules bench where he has compiled a 222-82 (.730) career record. Anderson is winningest coach in Central Missouri school history, guiding the Mules to two MIAA regular season championships, three MIAA tournament titles, and has won at least 24 games five times.

UCM leads the all-time series against the Bearcats 36-22.

Scouting the Bearcats
SBU faces off against the Mules of Central Missouri. SBU is led in scoring by Damion Hooks who averages 14.7 ppg while shooting 56.0% from the field, while Preston Guiot averages 12.3 ppg and 6.2 apg. Gilbert Gyamfi and Rashaad Brown-Peterson both average over ten points a game at 10.5 and 10.2 respectively.

Scouting the Mules
UCM is coming off of a 93-61 victory over Lincoln and now stand at 17-6 (11-4 MIAA). The Mules are led in scoring by Dominique Long, averaging 15.8 points per game. UCM also has two other players averaging double-digit scoring in Charles Hammork (11.0 ppg) and Widgett Washington (11.7 ppg and 5.3 apg).

Preston Guiot ranks 3rd in the MIAA in assists, dishing out 6.2 per game.

• Guiot also ranks 2nd in the MIAA in Free Throw Percentage (90.0%), 2nd in 3-Point FG made (2.6/G), 4th in Assist/Turnover Ratio (2.0), and 27th in Scoring (12.3 ppg).

• As a team, SBU ranks 2nd in 3-Point FG made (8.3/g), 3rd in the MIAA in assists (15.1 apg), and 6th in Free Throw Percentage (72.6%).
