Box Score St. Charles, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's basketball team fell to the Lions of Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon, 76-87. The Bearcats had strong indiviudal performances, but were unable to claim the road victory.
The Bearcats had a slight advantage shortly into the first half when
Damion Hooks burried a three to put SBU up 11-8 with 15:50 to go in the first half. Lindenwood would put on a run, and push their lead to 10, but the Bearcats battled back, cutting the deficit to four at 40-44 heading into the break. In the second half Lindenwood once again built their lead to double-digits as SBU dropped the contest 76-87.
Damion Hooks scored a game high 25 points off of 9 of 14 shooting from the field, his third straight 20+ performance.
Gilbert Gyamfi added 21 points, connecting of four three's and hitting 5 of 6 free throws, to go along with a game high 6 rebounds.
Rashaad Brown-Peterson was also in double figures, scoring 10 points, while
Preston Guiot dished out a career high 12 assists. As a team SBU shot 42.6% from the field, 42.9% from beyond the arc, and 92.3% from the free throw line.
SBU will return home on Tuesday, February 19 when they host Lincoln University. Tip-off against the Blue Tigers is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
