SBU head coach Jeff Guiot is in his ninth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles and compiled a 165-95 (.635) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Brad Soderberg is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Lindenwood men's basketball team. He is in his 17th year as a collegiate head coach, including six at the NCAA Division I level. Lindenwood is 80-19 through three seasons under Soderberg and enters the 2012-13 season with a career record of 291-166.

The series between the Bearcats and the Lions is tied 1-1 with Lindenwood claiming an 87-75 victory earlier this season.

The Bearcats are led in scoring by Damion Hooks averages 13.6 ppg while shooting 55.2% from the field, while Preston Guiot averages 12.0 ppg and 5.5 apg. Gilbert Gyamfi and Rashaad Brown-Peterson both average over nine points a game at 9.9 and 9.6 respectively.
