Jacqui Zelenka continued her excellent season by posting her 13th double-double on the year in SBU's 69-78 loss at Truman State on Thursday afternoon. With the loss SBU falls to 9-13 (4-10 MIAA) while Truman State moves to 17-5 (10-4 MIAA).
The Bearcats and Bulldogs had a back-and-forth effort before the Bearcats started to build their lead. SBU pushed their lead to 10 with 10:23 to go in the first half before Truman State started chipping away at the lead. The Bearcats went into halftime down 8 at 29-37. In the second half the Bearcats were never able to get going as they ended up falling in the contest 69-78.
Jacqui Zelenka gave SBU her 13th double-double on the season with a team high 19 points and 13 rebounds while going 8 of 13 from the field.
Chasity Prince hit three three's en route to an 18 point effort, while
Brook Duncan had 17 points and 7 rebounds in the loss. As a team SBU shot 49.1% from the field, 46.2% from beyond the arc, and 81.8% from the free throw line. The Bearcats were dominate on the glass, outrebounding the Bulldogs 32-19, but had 18 turnovers compared to only 8 for Truman State.
The Bearcats will quickly return to action on Saturday, February 16 when they travel to Lindenwood for a match-up with the Lions. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. from St. Charles, Missouri.
