Kirksville, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's basketball team fell to the Bulldogs of Truman State 60-72 on Thursday night in Kirksville.
The Bearcats and the Bulldogs traded the lead for the first seven minutes of the ballgame before Truman State would slowly begin to build their lead as SBU went into the half down 18-34. The Bearcats came out of halftime on a 10-2 run to cut the lead back to eight at 28-36, but Truman State held their ground. The Bearcats wouldn't be able to get the deficit under ten again until the 4:43 mark in the second half, as SBU dropped the contest 60-72.
Damion Hooks had a career night for SBU scoring a career high 29 points off of 13-23 shooting from the field while also pulling down 7 rebounds.
Rashaad Brown-Peterson had 16 points, 4 assists, and 5 steals while
Preston Guiot dished out 8 assists and Afamefuna Obukwelu had a solid game off of the bench with 8 points and 8 rebounds. As a team SBU shot 39.7% from the field, 14.3% from beyond the arc, and 61.1% from the free throw line.
The Bearcats quickly return to action on Saturday, February 16 when they travel to Lindenwood for a match-up against the Lions. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. from St. Charles, Missouri.
