Bolivar, Mo. - SBU closes out the week by hosting Truman State on Saturday. The Bearcats are coming off of 75-87 loss to Lindenwood on Thursday.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot is in his ninth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles and compiled a 163-93 (.634) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Matt Woodley begins his second season at the helm of the Truman men's basketball program after being named the 11th head coach in program history prior to the 2011-2012 season. In his first season, Woodley guided the Bulldogs to an 8-20 record and an eighth-place finish in the MIAA.
SBU leads the all-time series against Truman State 28-19, with the Bearcats claiming the last victory at SBU 68-49 in 2011-12.
Scouting the Bearcats
SBU closes out their four game home stand by hosting Truman State on Saturday. SBU is led in scoring by
Preston Guiot who averages 11.8 ppg and 5.4 apg, while
Damion Hooks also averages 11.8 ppg while shooting 57.9% from the field.
Gilbert Gyamfi and
Rashaad Brown-Peterson both average over eight points a game at 10.7 and 8.1 respectively.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Truman State has lost two of their last three games and come into the contest 7-11 (4-6 MIAA). The Bulldogs have three players who average in double figures. Mike Carlson leads the way averaging 16.7 ppg and a team high 6.2 rpg. Tom Norton (14.0 ppg) and Seth Jackson (10.7 ppg) both average in double figures as well.
