Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist is set to take on Nebraska-Kearney in an MIAA match-up on Saturday afternoon.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss in his third season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Voss has compiled a 131-68 career coaching record (23-36 at SBU), and has made two NAIA Final Four appearances while as head coach. Coach Voss comes to SBU after spending 5 years as the assistant women's basketball coach at Drake University.
Kevin Chaney is in his 4th season as the head coach at Nebraska-Kearney. Chaney holds a career coaching record of 28-51.
Southwest Baptist leads the all-time series against Nebraska-Kearney 1-0. SBU claimed the only victory in the series last season by a final score of 91-62.
Scouting the Bearcats
Southwest Baptist stands at 3-3 (0-1 MIAA) on the season after a tough loss to #20 Washburn on Thursday.
Brook Duncan leads the way for the Bearcats, averaging 19.8 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game, while
Jacqui Zelenka averages 10.3 points per game and a team high 6.8 rebounds per game.
Dilonna Johnson is also in double figures for the Bearcats, averaging 11.0 points per game to go a long with 5.2 assists per game.
Scouting the Lopers
Nebraska-Kearney comes into the game against Southwest Baptist with a 3-4 (0-1 MIAA) record. The Lopers fell in their MIAA opener to Missouri Southern 76-72 on Thursday.
Shelby Zimmerman leads UNK in both scoring and rebounding at 14.5 ppg and 8.8 rpg. Amarah Williams is also averaging double figures at 10.7 ppg, while Nicole Arp averages a team high 3.6 apg.
