Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist is set to begin the MIAA portion of their schedule on Thursday against #22 Washburn. The Bearcats are currently in the middle of their five game homestand.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot in his tenth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 172-103 (.625) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Bob Chipman is in his 34th season as the head coach of the Ichabods. Chipman holds a career coaching record of 721-296 (.709), and his teams have averaged 22 wins a year during his tenure.
Washburn leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 32-16. The Ichabods claimed a victory during their last meeting, 91-70, during the 2012-13 season.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats are coming off of their fifth straight victory after starting the season 2-2. SBU won their last game 93-65 over NAIA opponent Missouri Baptist.
The Bearcats are led in scoring by 
Desi Barmore who averages 18.1 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. 
Rashaad Brown-Peterson averages 17.1 points per game while 
Preston Guiot averages 12.8 points per game and 7.0 assists per game.
Scouting the Ichabods
Washburn comes into the MIAA contest against SBU with a 7-0 record and a #22 national ranking. Washburn is coming off of a 102-80 victory over Tabor, their second game of scoring 100+ points this season.
Kyle Wiggins leads the Ichabod scorers, averaging 15.7 points per game and a team high 4.4 assists per game. Alex North averages a team high 9.6 rebounds per game to go along with 14.3 ppg, while Stephon Drane (11.3 ppg) and Jeff Reid (11.1 ppg) both average double figures in scoring.
