Box Score Emporia, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team fell at #3 Emporia State on Wednesday evening 85-53. The loss drops the Bearcats to 5-4 (1-2 MIAA) on the season while Emporia State moves to 10-0 (2-0 MIAA).
The Bearcats fell behind early, trailing 26-8 halfway through the first half, and went into the break down 46-31.The Hornets slowly pulled away during the second half of the contest, as SBU fell 85-53.
Brook Duncan led the way for the Bearcats with 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting, while
Jacqui Zelenka scored 12 points with a team high 8 rebounds.
Morgan Lucy and
Mackenzie Skupa both added 12 points in the paint for SBU, while
Dilonna Johnson added a team high 4 assists. As a team SBU shot 32.8% from the field, 8.3% from beyond the arc, and 66.7% from the free throw line.
The Bearcats will continue their road trip on Saturday, December 21 when they travel to Pittsburg State for a game against the Gorillas. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. from Pittsburg, Kansas.
