SBU Men's Basketball to Travel to Emporia State on Wednesday

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist hits the road for their first MIAA road match against Emporia State on Wednesday.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot in his tenth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 174-104 (.626) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Shaun Vandiver is in his 3rd season as the head coach of the Emporia State Hornets. Vandiver holds a career coaching record of 22-32.

The Bearcats lead the all-time series against the Hornets 28-17. Southwest Baptist claimed a 65-60 victory at SBU during the 2012-13 season.

Scouting the Bearcats
With a 90-86 victory over William Jewell College, the Bearcats return to MIAA action with an 8-3 (1-1 MIAA) record.

The Bearcats are led in scoring by Rashaad Brown-Peterson who averages 19.0 points per game, while Desi Barmore averages 17.2 ppg and 6.8 rebounds per game. Derrick Stewart averages 12.8 points per game, hitting a team high 32 three's, while Preston Guiot averages 12.8 points per game and 7.0 assists per game.

Scouting the Hornets
Emporia State comes into the contest with a 7-4 (0-1 MIAA) record after coming off of an 85-81 victory over Newman University.

Kaleb Wright is the leading scorer for the Hornets, averaging 16.2 points per game, while Terrence Moore averages 12.7 points per game. The Hornets hold their opponents to 66.7 points per game, the fewest in the MIAA this season.
