Blount Sets Single Game Digs Record in 3-2 Comeback win over Lindenwood

Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - Finding themselves down, 2-0, the Southwest Baptist University volleyball team completed a great comeback against Lindenwood, taking the match in five sets. Hannah Blount had a record match, breaking the SBU single game digs record.

SBU fell behind Lindenwood 2-0 after dropping the first two sets 25-21 and 25-20. In the third set Lindenwood jumped out to a 15-6 lead, but the Bearcats wouldn't back down. SBU scored the next 9 points to draw even in the set, and would eventually take set three 25-23. The Bearcats would never look back as they took set four 25-20 followed by a 15-8 set five victory.

Southwest Baptist was dominant at the net, picking up 18 total blocks on the evening. McKinley Chesley led the way at the net with a career high 13 block assists to go along with 11 kills and 7 digs. Jordan Nedbalek led the SBU hitters with 17 kills, while hitting .395, and Mackynzi Gibson also had double figure kills with 11.

Defensively, Hannah Blount continues her impressive season by picking up 43 digs which is a new SBU single game record. Blount is now only 28 digs away from tying the single season record. Also in double figures in digs were Taryn Marton (17), Kaitlyn Allison (17), Kelsey Fankhauser (13), and Katy Fitzpatrick (11). Kelsey Fankhauser picked up her sixth double-double on the year by adding 43 assists in the victory.

The Bearcats are set to take on Missouri Southern in their final home contest of the year on Saturday, November 9. Senior day is set to begin at 2:30 from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar.
