Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats will close out their four game homestand on Saturday when they host NAIA opponent William Woods.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot in his tenth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 167-103 (.619) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Nick Totta enters his fourth season as head coach of the Owls, holding a 38-53 (.418) record while at WWU. Totta came to William Woods from Avila University. He served as head men's basketball coach from 1999 to 2004. During his time at Avila, Coach Totta produced 12 All-Conference players, one Heart of America Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, five academic All-HAAC players and two NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
This is the first meeting between Southwest Baptist and William Woods.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats are coming off of a high scoring 123-117 victory over Missouri S&T. The Bearcats are led in scoring by
Rashaad Brown-Peterson who averages 20.3 points per game.
Desi Barmore averages 17.5 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game, while
Preston Guiot averages 13.8 points per game and 6.8 assists per game.
Menas Stephens is the leading rebounder for SBU, pulling down 7.0 rebounds per game.
Scouting the Owls
William Woods comes into the game against the Bearcats with a 0-3 record on the season. WWU is coming off of an 88-86 loss to Graceland University.
William Woods has four players averaging in double figures. Jonathon Nutt leads the way with 18.7 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game. Blake Burgess averages 18.3 ppg, while Seth Thomas averages 12.7 ppg and Nate Bitner averages 10.7 ppg.
