Maryville, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team fell in a heartbreaking loss to Northwest Missouri on Friday afternoon. After taking the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20, Northwest Missouri would take the next three sets 25-22, 25-19, and 15-9.
Jenna Isaacs led the SBU hitters with 15 kills to go along with 6 digs while
Mackynzi Gibson had 11 kills followed by
McKinley Chesley and
Jordan Nedbalek with 8 a piece.
Kelsey Fankhauser picked up 45 assists on the evening, to go along with 7 digs, while
Hannah Blount had a team high 25 digs followed by
Taryn Marton who had 13 digs. The Bearcats picked up 17 total blocks in the loss.
SBU finishes the regular season 17-14 (6-10 MIAA) to mark SBU Volleyball's first winning season since 1987. The Bearcats will now wait for the completion of other MIAA matches to see if they claim one of the two remaining spots in the MIAA Tournament.
