Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats will begin their second straight week of home games, beginning with #8 Drury on Tuesday. The Bearcats are coming off of a 1-1 weekend at the SBU Classic, defeating Arkansas Tech 96-89 in their most recent contest.
The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot in his tenth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 166-101 (.622) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Steve Hesser enters his tenth season as head coach of the Panthers. He owns a 195-75 (.722) record as a head college basketball coach, all at DU, a .722 winning percentage that ranks among the top winning percentages in the nation and in Drury's basketball history.
Drury leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 29-22. SBU has won two of the last three meetings, but fell in last year's contest 73-44.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats had a strong opening weekend hosting the SBU Classic. After falling 84-79 in the season opener against Henderson State, SBU bounced back with a 96-89 victory over Arkansas Tech a day later.
The Bearcats are led in scoring and rebounding by
Desi Barmore who averages 19.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Preston Guiot leads the Bearcats in assists, at 9.0 per game, to go along with 15.0 points per game. Rashaad Brown Peterson (13.0 points per game) and
David Gabrovsek (10.5 points per game) are also in double figures for the Bearcats.
Scouting the Panthers
Last season Drury University won the NCAA Division II National Championship after a 31-4 year. After one game this season, Drury is 1-0 and currently ranked #8 in the NABC Coaches Poll. Sean Olster led DU with 16 points in their win against Webster, while Ian Carter had a team high 7 rebounds.
