SBU Women's Soccer Wins MIAA Championship 3-2 over Central Oklahoma

Box Score Olathe, Kan. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team claimed the 2013 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday afternoon by defeating Central Oklahoma 3-2 in overtime. With the victory, the Bearcats earn an automatic spot in the NCAA National Tournament.

Ali Skogrand got the scoring going in the 8th minute of play when she headed in a corner kick from Ali Skogrand to put SBU up 1-0. The Bearcats extended their lead in the 39th minute when Ashley Creason headed in her 10th goal of the season off of a pass from Brittany Marino to give SBU a 2-0 lead.

Central Oklahoma responded in the 2nd half off of goals from Emily Hahn and Quinn Tookey to send the game into overtime tied 2-2. In overtime, Southwest Baptist's Caroline Karlsson scored the game winning goal 6:47 into overtime off of an assist from Creason to clinch SBU's MIAA Championship.

The Bearcats will now await their seeding in the NCAA Tournament which will be announced on Monday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.
