Box Score St. Charles, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's soccer team finished off the regular season with a convincing 3-1 victory at Lindenwood. The win moves to Bearcats record to 11-5-1, while Lindenwood falls to 8-8-1.
With the victory tonight, the Bearcats now have the third most wins by any women's soccer team in SBU history. SBU also clinches hosting a first round MIAA Tournament game.
Southwest Baptist was the first to get on the scoreboard in the first half when
Caroline Karlsson scored her second goal of the season off of an assist from
Kate Jamison to go up 1-0. Lindenwood's Kat Roe responded with a goal in the 34th minute, sending the game into halftime tied 1-1.
The Bearcats continued to push in the second half, and would retake the lead in the 68th minute off of an unassisted goal by
Kate Jamison. SBU added to their lead only 10 minutes later on
Ashley Creason's 8th goal of the season (tied for the 10th most in a season by a Bearcat), as SBU went on to a 3-0 victory.
The Bearcats outshot the Lions 26-13, while goalie
Paige Hemphill picked up 5 saves in the win.
SBU will now have to wait for their opponent and their seeding in the MIAA Tournament. The 1st round MIAA Tournament game is set for Tuesday, November 5 at 3:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field in Bolivar.
