Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team played a strong game against #5 Central Missouri on Friday evening, but eventually fell 3-1 in a great comeback effort. SBU was one of only 8 teams this season to take a set from the Jennies as SBU falls to 14-11 and UCM improves to 24-1 on the season.
After falling in the first two sets 25-9 and 25-12, the Bearcats battled back to take set three 25-23. However, Central Missouri closed out the game by winning the fourth set 25-19 to claim a 3-1 victory.
The Bearcat defense did a good job of digging out Central Missouri attacks, with four different ladies in double figure digs.
Hannah Blount continues to lead the way with a team high 20 digs while
Lindsey Roy had 12 and Taryon Marton and
McKinley Chesley both had 10.
Roy completed a double-double by adding 24 assists in the loss, while Chesley also gave SBU a double-double with a team high 10 kills.
Jordan Nedbalek continues to be a strong presence at the net, picking up 8 block assists.
The Bearcats quickly return to action on Saturday, November 2 when they host Southern Arkansas and #11 Washburn. The match against SAU is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a 3:00 p.m. match against WU.
