Ashley Creason continues her strong plate late into the season, giving SBU two goals on a senior day 3-1 win over Missouri Western.
Creason wasted no time in getting the Bearcats on the scoreboard in the first half. Only six minutes into the game Creason used a free kick to from 30 yards out to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats would hold their lead going into halftime up 1-0. In the second half, Creason scored her second goal of the game, once again off of a free kick. Then in the 79th minute
Karla Jamison scored her seventh goal of the season off of a pass from
Brittany Marino to give SBU a 3-0 lead. Missouri Western's Drew Mantlo would score in closing seconds for MWSU, but SBU would come out victorious at 3-1.
With the win, SBU moves to 10-5-1 (6-4 MIAA) and Missouri Western falls to 2-13-2 (0-9-1 MIAA). The win today marks the first time since 2006 where the Bearcats have picked up 10 victories in a season.
SBU will hit the road for the final two games of the regular season. SBU will travel to Newman University for a non-conference match on Wednesday, October 30. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Wichita, Kansas.
