Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU men's soccer team played a close contest against #24 Fort Hays on Monday afternoon in Bolivar, dropping the contest 2-1.
Fort Hays jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, scoring their first goal of the game in the 3rd minute of play. However, the Bearcat defense buckled down, and held the Tigers scoreless for the remainder of the first half. SBU would get on the scoreboard in the 35th minute when
Brad Tippin scored his first career goal, off of an assist from
Kaleb Romero, to tie the game up at 1-1.
The Bearcats and Tigers were tied 1-1 going into halftime, but Fort Hays would score the lone second half goal in the 64th minute to win 2-1. SBU held Fort Hays to only three shots on goal in the game, but were held to only two shots of their own on goal.
SBU will quickly return to action on Tuesday, October 15 when they travel to Harding for an MIAA match against the Bison. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Searcy, Arkansas.
