Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - Two second half goals by
Karla Jamison propelled SBU to a 3-1 victory over Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, SBU moves to 7-4-1 (3-3 MIAA), while Missouri Southern falls to 2-6-3 (1-3-3 MIAA).
Missouri Southern was the first to get on the scoreboard with a goal from Kayla Gajewski in the 21st mintue. The Bearcats, however, responded with a goal of their own in the 42nd minute when
Ashley Creason knocked in a goal off of a corner kick from
Elin Hammar to tie the game up at 1-1. The Bearcats and Lady Lions would go into the half tied 1-1.
In the second half, SBU and MSSU continued to battle, as the game remained tied for the next 30 minutes of play. The Bearcats finally broke the tie when
Karla Jamison knocked in a cross from the right side of the field from
Kate Jamison to put SBU up 2-1. SBU added another goal in the 87th minute, once again from
Karla Jamison off of a couple of touch passes from
Ashley Creason and
Brittany Marino, as SBU claimed the 3-1 victory.
SBU will be back in action on Friday, October 18 when they travel to Northeastern State for a match against the RiverHawks. The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. from Tahlequah, Okla.
