Box Score 2 Joplin, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team improved to 13-6 with two victories on the final day of the MSSU Invitational. The two victories move SBU 7 games over .500 for the first time since 1987.
In the first match of the day against South Dakota School of Mines, the Bearcats came away with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-23) victory.
Jenna Isaacs led the Bearcats with 12 kills, as SBU had four Bearcats with seven or more kills in the match.
Kelsey Fankhauser and
Lindsey Roy split the setties duties, with Fankhauser picking up 18 assists compared to Roy's 14. Defensively,
Hannah Blount led the Bearcat backcourt with 22 digs, while
Kaitlyn Allison added in 12.
In the second match of the day SBU once again came away with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-11) victory, this time against East Central.
Nikki Madoch led the Bearcat offense with 8 kills, while
Jenna Isaacs and
Jordan Nedbalek both had 7.
Kelsey Fankhauser picked up 20 assists and 11 digs, while
Hannah Blount had 15 digs and
Kaitlyn Allison had 12.
The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, October 18 when they travel to #13 Washburn. The MIAA match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Topeka, Kansas.
