Fort Myers, Fla. - Fanni Varga and Christina Zentai had a solid opening day at the 2013 ITA/USTA Small College Nationals on Thursday afternoon.

Fanni Varga started the day off with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over the #4 seed Sara Celma from Sonoma State. Varga is now set to take on the #1 seed Paola Cigui from Columbus State in the semi-finals.

In doubles play, Varga and Christina Zentai also advanced to the semi-finals with a 6-2, 1-6, 10-6 victory over the #3 seed Lucie Rey and Lucie Sipkova of California (Pa.). The Bearcats opponent has yet to be determined.

Singles action will resume on Friday, October 11 at 7:00 am (CST), with the semi-finals for doubles set to begin at 10:30 (CST) from Fort Myers, Florida.
