Box Score Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Volleyball team had a back-and-forth battle against Pittsburg State on Tuesday night, but came up just short in the contest, losing 3-2.
The Bearcats took set one 25-22, but then fell in set two 15-25. SBU responded with a 25-21 set three victory, but fell in sets four and five 25-23 and 15-13.
The Bearcats fought hard, and put up great individual numbers, but it wasn't enough to top the Gorillas of Pittsburg State.
Nikki Madoch led the SBU hitters with 17 kills, followed closely by
Jordan Nedbalek (15 kills) and
Jenna Isaacs (10 kills).
Kelsey Fankhauser had a career high 57 assists, while five Bearcats were in double-digits digs.
Hannah Blount led the way with 28 digs, followed by
McKinley Chesley (23),
Taryn Marton (22),
Kaitlyn Allison (15), and
Kelsey Fankhauser (14). Fankhauser put up her third double-double of the season with her 57 assists and 14 digs.
SBU will contiue their home stand on Friday, October 4 when they are set to host Northwest Missouri State. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center.
