SBU Men's Basketball to Host Nebraska-Kearney on Hall of Fame Weekend

Bolivar, Mo. - SBU continues their four game home stand against Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, coming off of a 51-70 loss against Northwest Missouri earlier this week.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot is in his ninth season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles and compiled a 162-92 (.638) record. Coach Guiot is the winningest coach in SBU history, has led the 'Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and has three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Tom Kropp and Kevin Lofton are co-head coaches for the Lopers. Lofton holds a career record of 116-83, while Kropp's career record stands at 442-203.

The series between the Bearcats and the Lopers is tied 1-1 with Southwest Baptist claiming the last victory 86-82 in 1991-92.

Scouting the Bearcats
SBU continues their four game home stand by host Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday. SBU is led in scoring by Damion Hooks who averages 11.2 ppg while shooting 55.2% from the field, while Preston Guiot averages 11.0 ppg and 5.1 apg. Gilbert Gyamfi and Rashaad Brown-Peterson both average over eight points a game at 9.7 and 8.4 respectively.

Scouting the Lopers
Nebraska-Kearney is coming off of a 79-80 road loss against Truman State, and now sit at 5-12 (2-7 MIAA).

UNK is led in scoring by Jon Henderson who averages 15.0 ppg and a team high 2.8 apg. Nebraska-Kearney has two other players who also average double-figures in Mike Dentlinger (13.1) and Pierre Newton (13.0 ppg). Tyler Shields leads the rebounding efforts, averaging 6.9 rpg while also averaging 9.1 ppg.
