SBU Women's Basketball Returns Home to Host Northwest Missouri on Tuesday

Bolivar, Mo. - SBU returns home for a four game homestand, starting off with Northwest Missouri on Tuesday. The Bearcats return home after dropping a road contest to #21 Fort Hays 55-64.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss in his second season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Voss has compiled a 123-58 (.680) career coaching record (15-26 at SBU), and has made two NAIA Final Four appearances while as head coach. Coach Voss comes to SBU after spending 5 years as the assistant women's basketball coach at Drake University.

Mark Kellogg begins his first season at the helm of the Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team after seven seasons at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. He posted a 173-46 overall record in seven seasons at Fort Lewis including a 116-23 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).

Northwest Missouri leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 30-21. Northwest Missouri claimed the last victory in 2011-12 61-75.

Scouting the Bearcats
SBU returns home for four straight home games. SBU is led in scoring and rebounding by Jacqui Zelenka who averages 12.1 ppg and 9.7 rpg. The Bearcats support a balanced offense with three different players averaging over seven points per game: Jacqui Zelenka (12.1), Brittney Dukes (10.9), Chasity Prince (10.6), Brook Duncan (8.5), and Tanis Spani (7.2).

Scouting the Bearcats
Northwest Missouri comes into Tuesday's contest with a 10-5 (4-3 MIAA) record. NWMSU has three players scoring in double figures on the season, led by Ashleigh Nelson with 11.5 ppg. Maggie Marnin (11.1 ppg) and Meridee Scott (10.6 ppg) both average over 10 ppg while Annie Mathews (9.4 ppg) and Tember Schechinger (9.3 ppg) both average over 9 ppg.

• The SBU defense shut down Illinois-Springfield, tying the school record for fewest points allowed during a game (34), a mark which leads the MIAA this season.

Jacqui Zelenka, Chasity Prince, and Brook Duncan have all recorded their first career double-doubles this season.

• Zelenka ranks 36th in the NCAA in FG Percentage (52.5%), 13th in the NCAA in double double's, and 45th in the NCAA in Rebounding (9.7 rpg).

• Zelenka ranks 16th in the MIAA in Scoring (12.1 ppg), 3rd in Rebounding (9.7 rpg), 8th
in FG Percentage (52.5%), and 12th in Assists (2.7 apg).

Brook Duncan ranks 14th in the MIAA in 3-Point FG Made (1.5/G) and 13th in the MIAA in Blocked Shots (1.0 bpg).

• Britney Dukes ranks 22nd in the MIAA in Scoring (10.9 ppg).
