Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team ran into a tough contest against Northeastern State, dropping the game 43-59.

Both teams came out of the gate playing solid defense, with Northeastern State going into halftime up 28-14. SBU would find themselves down 24 points at 45-21 before they started to battle back. SBU would go on a 20-7 run to cut the deficit to 11 with 1:44 to go in the game, but weren't able to complete the comeback as they fell to the Riverhawks 43-59.

Jacqui Zelenka continued her impressive season with another double-double scoring 13 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Brittney Dukes played solid off of the bench and in limited minutes, as she went 6 of 12 from the field for 13 points. As a team SBU shot 32.7% from the field, 23.5% from beyond the arc, and 62.5% from the free throw line. The Bearcats out-rebounded the Riverhawks 40-32 but were only able to force six turnovers.

SBU will be back in action on Wednesday, January 16 when they travel to Hays, Kansas to take on Fort Hays State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
