SBU Women's Basketball to Host Riverhawks on Saturday

Bolivar, Mo. - SBU will continue their short home stand by hosting Northeastern State on Saturday, January 12. The Bearcats are coming off of another tough loss, falling to Emporia State 59-65 earlier in the week.

The Coaches and the All-Time Series
SBU head coach Todd Voss in his second season on the Bearcat bench. Coach Voss has compiled a 123-56 (.687) career coaching record (15-24 at SBU), and has made two NAIA Final Four appearances while as head coach. Coach Voss comes to SBU after spending 5 years as the assistant women's basketball coach at Drake University.

Randy Gipson is currently in his 14th campaign at the helm of the Northeastern State women's basketball program. He entered the 2012-13 season with a combined 259-121 record as head coach of the RiverHawks. He has never recorded a losing season in his 13 prior campaigns at NSU, and he has led his program to seven appearances in the NCAA Championship.

SBU leads the all-time series against Northeastern State 7-5, with the Riverhawks claiming a 71-67 victory in their last meeting during the 2009-10 season.

Scouting the Bearcats
SBU continues their two game home stretch by taking on the Riverhawks of Northeastern State on Saturday. SBU is led in scoring and rebounding by Jacqui Zelenka who averages 12.0 ppg and 9.4 rpg. The Bearcats support a balanced offense with four different players averaging over nine points per game: Jacqui Zelenka (12.0), Chasity Prince (11.2), Brittney Dukes (10.3), and Brook Duncan (9.7).

Scouting the Riverhawks
Northeastern State is coming off of a 52-63 loss at #15 Central Missouri and now sit at 8-5 (3-2 MIAA) on the season. NSU is led in scoring by Taylor Lewis who is averaging 15.2 ppg, with Tosha Tyler the only other Riverhawk scoring in double figures at 12.0 ppg. As a team, NSU 13.5 apg, with 9 different players having 10+ assists on the year.
