SBU Men's Soccer has 15 Shots in a Hard Fought Game Against Upper Iowa

Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University men's soccer team had a hard fought battle against Upper Iowa on Thursday afternoon, dropping the contest 3-2. The Bearcats battled back and forth with Upper Iowa, but the Peacocks pulled out the victory in the end.

The Bearcats were the first to get on the scoreboard at the 1:11 mark in the first half. Karl DuPont hit a nice cross in front of the goal where Kaleb Romero knocked in his third goal of the season to give SBU a 1-0 lead. Upper Iowa fought back, scoring two of their own goals before the half ended to take a 2-1 lead into half. The Bearcats continued to battle, and at the 51:21 Spencer Smith knocked in a ball in the crowd off of another assist from DuPont to pull SBU even at 2-2. However Upper Iowa was able to score the go-ahead goal at the 78:40 mark and hold on to a 3-2 win.

The Bearcats had a season high 15 shots, with six coming on goal. DuPont led SBU in shots with 5 followed by Romero who had 4.

The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, September 22 when they take on Truman State. The home match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. from the SBU Soccer Field.
