Bolivar, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University football team had a tough time against #1 Pittsburg State, dropping the game 52-9 in Bolivar on Saturday.
The Bearcats were the first to put points on the scoreboard early in the first quarter. After causing a three-and-out on Pittsburg State's first drive,
Chris Muhammad return the PSU punt 39 yards giving SBU the ball deep in Pittsburg State teritory. Nine plays later
Dan Connors found
Derwyn Lauderdale in the endzone for a eight yard touchdown pass, putting SBU up 7-0, the first time PSU has trailed all season. However Pittsburg State would score 52 unanswered points and eventually go on to the 52-9 victory.
On the offensive side of the ball
Robert McWright led the offensive rushing attack with 28 yards off of four carriers.
Dan Connors threw for a team high 96 yards with one touchdown, while
Justin Duhaney had 29 receiving yards off of six receptions. Defensively
Shaquille Shedd had one fumble recovery and
Evan Ray led the team with 10 tackles.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, September 22 when they travel to Joplin, Missouri to take on Missouri Southern. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
