9/1/2012 9:47:00 PM

Fayette, Iowa - Megan Link recorded her first shut-out in goal of the 2012 season during a 2-0 victory over Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Bearcats to 1-1 on the season, with the Jamison sisters providing the offense for the Bearcats, each scoring one goal in the win.

The first goal for SBU came in the 32nd minute when Kate Jamison placed a shot in the back right corner of the net, off of an assist from Ashley Creason, to put SBU up 1-0. Karla Jamison later extended the Bearcat lead in the 64th minute with a shot in the back left corner of the net, with the assist going to Link, to help SBU reach the final of 2-0. The two goals were plenty for Link, as she shut down the Concordia-St. Paul offense, collecting 7 saves in her first shut-out of the season.

"Today we plated like we meant it," head coach Robert Podeyn stated after the victory. "We showed how we've been playing and training this pre-season. It was good to get the win and start building some confidence as we get closer to beginning conference play."

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, September 6th when they take on Minot State University. The game is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. from Minot, North Dakota.
