Saint Leo, Fla. - The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team opened up their 2012 season at the Saint Leo Classic against Montevallo and host Saint Leo on Friday afternoon in Florida. The Bearcats dropped the first match 1-3, followed by the second one 1-3.
In the first match the Bearcats battled Montevallo. After falling down 1-0, the Bearcats rallied to take game two before eventually falling to Montevallo 1-3. Against host school Saint Leo, the Bearcats jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead before Saint Leo would take the next three games to go on to the 1-3 victory.
Whitney Miller had a solid game against Saint Leo, producing 21 assists while also collecting 10 digs. The Bearcats were led in kills by
Jordan Nedbalek and
Jenna Isaacs with 12 a piece.
Kaitlyn Allison also gave the Bearcats double-digits digs with a team high 12.
SBU is back in action on Saturday, September 1 for the final day of the Saint Leo Classic. The Bearcats take on Queens University at 10:30 am followed by the University of Charleston at 3:30 pm.
