Liberty, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University baseball team closed out the 2012 season with a 4-3 victory at William Jewell on Wednesday night. With the victory, the Bearcats end their season with a 21-28-1 record.
The Bearcats were the first to put runs on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning. With two outs,
Bo Helsel drew a walk, followed by a
Jeremiah Bryan single. Helsel came home later on a passed ball, followed by an rbi single from
Spencer Blacksher to give SBU a 2-0 lead. The Bearcats added another run in the sixth inning when Helsel singled home
Ross Wolfe to put SBU up 3-0. William Jewell would come back and tie the game at 3-3 before the Bearcats would eventually add another run in the top of the ninth. With a runner on first and one out,
Jeremiah Bryan blasted a double to bring home Helsel and give SBU the 4-3 victory.
