Maryville, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist University softball team ran into some tough pitching at Northwest Missouri on Friday afternoon, dropping both games 1-5, 0-1.
Alexa Harvey threw an impressive game two for the Bearcats, throwing a complete game allowing only 5 hits.
In game one Northwest Missouri jumped ahead early, leading 5-0 before the Bearcats were able to get on the scoreboard. In the top of the seventh inning
Kassy Williamson led of the inning with a single, followed by an rbi double from
Addie Murders. However it wasn't enough as Northwest Missouri claimed a 5-1 victory. Williamson collected three hits for the Bearcats in game one, going 3-3 with a run scored.
Game two proved to be a strong pitching dual, with
Alexa Harvey recording her most impressive start of the season. Harvey threw a complete game for the Bearcats, allowing only one run on five hits over 7.0 innings. The Bearcats weren't able to get on the scoreboard, as Northwest Missouri claimed a 1-0 overtime victory over SBU.
The Bearcats quickly return to action tomorrow when they travel to Kirksville, Missouri to take on Truman State. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
